Shovels in hand, Kent County officials turned dirt officially breaking ground on a 30,000 square foot campus addressing the service needs of a growing community. Funding for the $12.5 million facility is allocated through the County’s Capital Improvement Program Fund. Kent County Board of Commissioners Chair Mandy Bolter says the project will be completed “without the need to issue bonds.”
The North Campus located at 4191 17 Mile Road in Cedar Springs will house the Sheriff’s Office North Sub-Station, a county Health Department clinic, a ‘hoteling space’ and room for the county to expand additional services.
Earlier this year the county set aside an additional $630,000 meeting rising construction costs. It plans to halt construction during the winter months due to global building material shortages including steel.
The North Campus is scheduled to open its doors in April 2023.
