GR Press City of Walker printing and distribution facility sold

Twenty-one acre campus purchased this week by Lee Contracting headquartered in Pontiac.

The Grand Rapids Press Walker printing facility has been purchased by a Pontiac, Michigan company.

The Grand Rapids Press printing and distribution facility located along I-96 in Walker opened in 2004. Last year, Owner, MLive Media Group, shifted printing production of eight newspapers to Cleveland.

The property listed for $11 million. The nearly 236,000 square foot building located on a 21-acre campus purchased this week by Lee Contracting headquartered in Pontiac. It specializes in electrical and mechanical services. Walker will be the company’s second location serving West Michigan. Services will soon expand to include rigging/machinery moving and concrete machine foundations.

Lee Contracting works with more than a dozen area companies.

Lee currently employs more than 450 people in Pontiac and is looking to expand that workforce in Walker seeking skilled tradespeople.
