Kent County’s Administrative Health Officer has experienced threats and attempts of violence since issuing a mask mandate in county schools. A letter from Dr. Adam London to the Kent County Board of Commissioners exposes community intimidation and what county commissioners knew ahead of a public comment session.
On August 22nd, Kent County Health Administrator Dr. Adam London sent a three-page letter to the county Board of Commissioners. In it, he provided data supporting the PreK-6th grade classroom mask order. He also attached letters from local hospitals supporting the decision. One from the Kent Intermediate School District documenting masks in the classroom supported in-person learning by limiting illness.
Dr. London also brought to light numerous accusations. From “deep state agent of liberal-progressive-social powers working to undo the America they love” to “A person who relishes the suffering of children and must be stopped.” Attempts of violence include a woman trying to run Dr. London off the highway at 70 mph. Not once, but twice. He warned the commissioners, “There is a sickness in America far more insidious than COVID. You are more empowered to fight this disease than I am.”
Kent County Commissioners received the letter four days before a public comment session at DeVos Place where approximately 150 parents spoke expressing their decision-making rights were violated and questioned the role of government. Dr. London participated via video conference call.
Commissioners were aware Dr. London had expressed in the letter that he and his team were at a breaking point and his safety was a concern. “Change the laws if they’re not good, don’t destroy the people who are carrying out laws you don’t like. If people like Adam London aren’t going to keep doing this work, who will?”
Dr. London also gave the commissioners the go-ahead to fire, censure or pass a resolution condemning him, “By all means please proceed.”
