Koda joins GVSU Police Department

Grand Valley State University introduced a K-9 to its police department.

Koda, a 2-year old black Labrador Retriever joined the Grand Valley State University Police Department. The canine specializing in explosives detection was introduced Wednesday afternoon at Lubbers Stadium.

Much of Koda’s work will focus on gatherings including large-scale events and football games. Her specialty is detecting explosives in bags and building. Also, using her nose picking up odors for tracking individuals. Known for their friendly disposition, a Lab like Koda will also be a welcoming presence building relationships between law enforcement and the GVSU community.
