The Rapid is partnering with the Kent County Health Department to provide access to the COVID-19 vaccination at the Rapid Central Station.

The COVID-19 vaccination clinic will be held on Monday, August 23rd at the Rapid Central Station from 1 to 3 pm.

Health Department nursing staff will be administering Pfizer and Johnson and Johnson vaccines at the clinic. With the Centers for Disease Control recently raising the level of COVID-19 infection in Kent County to ‘high’ from ‘substantial’, Bill Kirk, spokesperson for The Rapid says the Rapid continues to partner with the Health Department.

“We’ve been working with the Kent County Health Department, throughout the course of the pandemic, trying to provide information, shuttle rides, we provided a shuttle to the big vaccination clinic at Devos Place. This is another tool in that tool box to help as many people as possible get the vaccination. So, the Rapid Central Station is a good location for that.

Kirk says appointments are not required and there is no charge for the vaccine. The mobile vaccine unit will be located in the parking lot on Grandville Avenue in front of Rapid Central Station.

Kirk adds a reminder about their bus service as well. President Biden's administration recently confirmed that it plans to extend requirements for mask wearing on bus transportation and Kirk says he wants passengers to be aware:

“The original guidance on mask requirements for buses from the TSA at the federal level was until mid-September of this year… We received word this week that that will be extended until January of 2022. So yes, all customers on Rapid buses must wear a mask if they are medically able.”

Again, the Rapid partnering with the Kent County Health Department with a mobile vaccination clinic on Monday, from 1 until 3 pm at the Rapid Central Station.
