Michigan's Department of Health and Human Services released the latest COVID-19 numbers Saturday, and there is good news: Michigan's coronavirus numbers dropped for the seventh straight week, and were down 47% from a week ago.

However, the news is also bittersweet, as the numbers reported Saturday pushed the state’s total virus cases to 887,719 and deaths to 19,163 since the start of the coronavirus pandemic more than a year ago.

Of the 49 deaths confirmed Saturday, 48 were identified from a review of vital records, according to Michigan’s Department of Health and Human Services.

More than 4.5 million Michigan residents have been vaccinated, officials said.
