Sign ups are still open for Mary Free Bed’s Wheelchair and Adaptive Sports Program's Youth Wheelchair Sports Sampler Class. The initiative is to support young kids who are part-time or full-time wheelchair users to try out different sports adapted for them.

The six-week class is taught by volunteer wheelchair athletes and will help children learn how to play in sport wheelchairs. Sports covered include tennis, basketball and softball.

"Kids will learn new skills, teamwork and build self confidence in a safe and fun atmosphere," Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation Hospital said in a statement.

Classes will take place Wednesdays through May 19 from 5:00-5:45pm. They will be held at the Mary Free Bed YMCA on Burton Street in Grand Rapids. For more information, click here.
