Incumbent Michigan U-S Senator Gary Peters has successfully defended one of the few Democratic seats being challenged in any state that President Trump won four years ago, and it was the most expensive U-S Senate race in Michigan’s history.
Peters ran against Trump as much as his challenger James…noting his Republican rival said he supported the President “Two thousand percent” while making a bid for the senate two years ago.
James…an African American businessman and Iraqi war veteran…distanced himself somewhat from Trump this time.
He did seem to take a page from the Trump playbook however…when James re-tweeted a consultant’s declaration that he had won…even though votes in the close race were still being counted.
Not long after…the Trump campaign sued Michigan to stop counting ballots.
