1st recreational marijuana store opens in Grand Rapids Friday

For the first time in the city’s history, a recreational marijuana dispensary will open its doors Friday.

The dispensary is called Fluresh, and if the name sounds familiar, it’s the same company that opened the city’s first medical marijuana dispensary back in February. Now however, anyone over 21-years of age can legally purchase cannabis for recreational purposes, starting on Friday, October 23rd.

Lindsay Levin is the Chief Marketing Officer at Fluresh. She says the historic significance of tomorrow’s opening is a sign of how attitudes have shifted in the social consciousness of the community when it comes to legalized marijuana.

Due to the pandemic for now, recreational customers are not allowed into the physical dispensary, but can order products online via a curbside pickup.

In July, Fluresh cut the ribbon on a new 133,000-square foot cannabis grow facility, that created 100 new jobs in the city.
