Grand Valley State University is being recognized as a national leader in diversity and inclusion while also earning the top spot on a national publication’s best places to work list.

Forbes magazine ranks Grand Valley State University as one of America’s best employers. It comes in at #1 in Michigan. A survey of 80,000 Americans working at businesses with a minimum of 500 employees from all 50 states and the District of Columbia helped compile Forbes’ second annual "America's Best Employers by State" list.

Following Grand Valley State University as Michigan’s top employer are Steelcase, DTE Energy, Consumers Energy, Wayne State University.

Grand Valley was also awarded the 2020 Higher Education Excellence in Diversity Award from renowned diversity-focused publication Insight Into Diversity.

It and 89 other higher education institutions received the award for “efforts to broaden diversity and inclusion programs and outreach on campus.”

This is the third time in eight years GVSU has earned the award beginning in 2012 and again in 2019.
