Michigan woman says fear led her to pull gun on Black family

(Oakland County Sheriff's Office via AP)

A white woman who was charged after she was captured on video pulling a handgun on an unarmed Black woman and her daughters outside of a Michigan restaurant says she feared for her life.

Jillian Wuestenberg and her husband, Eric Wuestenberg have been charged with felonious assault stemming from the July 1 confrontation. Wuestenberg says she thought she might die when she pointed a handgun at Takelia Hill, who is Black, and her daughters.

Hill has said the confrontation started when Jillian Wuestenberg bumped into Hill’s teenage daughter as they were entering the restaurant.

Dean Greenblatt, an attorney for the Wuestenbergs said that he believed the Hills should also face charges for escalating the confrontation. An attorney for Hill says the Wuestenbergs were never threatened with a weapon and could have left the parking lot.
