Mel Trotter Ministries recently received a grant for COVID 19 emergency funding.
And officials say it was greatly needed.
“To receive a 25-thousand-dollar grant was, yeah, we all paused and gave immediate thanks and were overwhelmed with appreciation, like wow, this really will matter in meaningful ways.”
That’s Beth Fisher. She’s the Vice President of Communication and Advancement at Mel Trotter Ministries. Mel Trotter received a 25 thousand dollar grant from the PNC Foundation. Like so many places, Mel Trotter had to adjust to the impact of COVID 19, which meant a lot of costly changes. They started by implementing social distancing measures and went from there, even having to build separate physical spaces for those at the ministry.
“So, we changed things in our cafeteria, we went from buffet to no buffet; everything was pre- packaged. We went from regular utensils to everything was paper and plastic. We built walls in some cases to separate. We put up plexiglass.”
Cleaning supplies, thermometers and PPE were among the other items they needed.
Beth says they’ve learned a lot through this process. Adding they were in awe at all that was happening from employees showing up and just learning how to deal with the many changes COVID brought to their day to day process. Fisher says they’re grateful they could address the needs of those at Mel Trotter and are thankful for the grant and all donations.
“We don’t exist without having donations come through our door. And so, to have that giving happen in the midst of a crisis, that allowed us, to do what we needed to do. Yeah, that grant of 25-thousand helped us to move forward in big and meaningful ways.”
