The hot, still summer days have sent water temperatures in the Great Lakes soaring.
Right now surface-water temperatures of Lake Michigan range between 70-78 degrees.
Sabrina Jauernic is a meteorologist for the US National Weather Service in Gaylord.
“Around 58 to 59 degrees Fahrenheit is what we are typically at for early July. We are definitely well beyond that.”
Jauernic says it will take one good wind storm to lower the surface temperatures.
