Public hearing scheduled for work plans after dock collapse

MI.gov

State officials are expected to hear public comment about a company’s plan for shoreline work following a dock collapse and spill along the Detroit River in Detroit. Michigan’s Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy has scheduled an online public hearing Tuesday evening. It says Revere Dock proposes to remove material deposited in the river from the November collapse as well as river sediments and dispose of them at a licensed disposal facility. The company also wants to build a steel sea wall to replace an existing pile-supported concrete dock at the site. Federal environmental officials found uranium, lead and several chemicals during testing of the industrial site where limestone construction aggregate material spilled into the river.
