Shooting in broad daylight leaves one dead, GRPD looking for suspects

Authorities are looking for answers after a shooting on Grand Rapids Southeast side left one person dead. Police were alerted to sounds of gunshots around the 2200 block of Kalamazoo Avenue at around 4PM near the city’s Garfield Cemetery.

The shooting victim had already been driven to an area hospital by before officers arrived on scene. Police are not releasing the person’s name or age, only reporting that the male shooting victim died at the hospital as a result of his injuries. 

Forensic Services is processing the crime scene and detectives are following up, which includes talking to multiple witnesses.  Investigators would like to talk to anyone who may have information regarding this crime or was in the cemetary around 4 PM this afternoon.  GRPD Detectives can be reached at (616) 456-3400 or through Silent Observer at (616) 774-2345 or www.silentobserver.org.
