Gilda's Club G.R. Offers Virtual Cancer and Grief Support During COVID-19

The folks at Gilda’s Club say there are no breaks when it comes to cancer and grief.  And while the “new normal” may be a standard catch phrase during COVID-19, there’s nothing “normal” about dealing with cancer or grief. That’s why Gilda’s Club is now hosting virtual support groups and programs.

“It is so important to have a platform for our members in this community to be able to continue to have the emotional, social support now more than ever in the midst of cancer or grief.”

That’s Lindsay Jousma, Director of Program Operations for Gilda’s Club Grand Rapids.  She says Gilda’s Club continues to offer support to those who may need help during this time of uncertainty.  From cancer to the grief of losing a loved one, perhaps even during this pandemic, she says Gilda’s Club is here to help.

And like many places, they’ve gone virtual- with meetings on Zoom.

“And that allows our group members to meet by video or phone and the groups are all facilitated by a Master’s level professional at Gilda’s Club.  So, it’s a way for our members experiencing cancer and grief in the midst of this COVID 19 pandemic to be able to continue to gather virtually and provide support and receive support from one another in this professional way.”

If you’re on a cancer or grief journey, Jousma says you can go to their website at gildasclubgr.org or call 453-8300 for help.
