Play outdoors but avoid the playground equipment

The Kent County Health Department has been fielding questions about children using playground equipment. It’s encouraged children seek alternative outdoor activities. Kids using playground equipment is not a good idea. That’s the recommendation of Dr. Adam London, he’s Kent County Health Director.

“Because of the increased number of people in one small area, but also because the kids are touching all of those surfaces, it’s really not a great idea. We should be encouraging kids to play outside, but not on playground equipment that’s shared by other kids. If you are the owner-operator of a park where you have public playground equipment, we encourage you to maybe put signs up or maybe make it clearer that you’re discouraging kids from playing on the playground equipment.”

Dr. London is encouraging kids to get outside and play. It’s important for their health. Just avoid the playground equipment.
