The American Association of Colleges of Nursing has elected a new leader with ties to West Michigan.
The mission statement of the American Association of Colleges of Nursing declares that it “serves as the catalyst for excellence and innovation in nursing education, research, and practice.”
Cynthia McCurren is dean and professor of Grand Valley State University's Kirkhof College of Nursing. She’s been serving on the AACN board the past four years and recently acting as co-chair of its Essentials Task Force, focusing on transforming undergraduate and graduate student nursing programs.
Now, McCurren will lead the national voice of academic nursing after her election to the AACN’s board chair beginning in 2022. The ascent begins with two years as chair-elect.
McCurren is past president of the Michigan Association of Colleges of Nursing and serves on the board of the Michigan Organization of Nursing Leaders.
The AACN represents 825 public and private member schools of nursing nationwide.
