Late last week, Kent County Commissioner Jim Saalfeld announced he’s stepping down from the board. Who will replace him serving out the term?

Saalfeld will officially resign his seat March 15th. He explains as CEO of non-profit, Church Extension Fund, which assists with financing Lutheran churches and schools across the state, his duties there are limiting his time for board meetings.

His current term runs through the end of 2020 leaving a nine month vacancy.

Over the next 30 days, the Kent County Board of Commissioners seek applicants to fill the unexpired District 11 term representing Ada and Grand Rapids Townships and the City of East Grand Rapids.

Applicants, who are District 11 residents and registered voters, can visit www.accesskent.com/BOCApplication.

Applications must be received by close of business March 5th. Candidates will be evaluated by the Executive Committee with a recommendation to the Board of Commissioners and vote March 26th.
