The Iowa Caucuses kicked off the presidential primary campaign season. In five weeks, on Super Tuesday, Michigan voters will cast their ballots. The City of Grand Rapids is providing services making voting easier.

The City of Grand Rapids Parks and Recreation and Public Works Departments is also home to the City Clerk's Election Central office located at 201 Market Avenue Southwest where residents can drop in from noon until 5:00, Monday through Friday, registering to vote, applying for or dropping off an absentee ballot. City Clerk Joel Hondorp reminds us all registered voters, without a reason, are eligible to receive an absentee ballot.

“New this year for absentee voting, if voters remember Proposal 3 went through. So, now all voters are eligible for absentee ballots. We saw as many people receive an absentee ballot in the Mayor General election as we did in the Presidential election of 2016. We’re preparing now.”

Residents can still access the Clerk's Office located at City Hall. Office hours at 300 Monroe Avenue are 8:00 am to 5 pm, Monday through Friday.

The City Clerk's office is also hosting outreach events beginning Tuesday, February 18th, noon to 7 pm, at Baxter Community Center and Wednesday, February 19th, also from noon to 7 pm, at the Hispanic Center of West Michigan.
