Recreational marijuana dispensaries coming soon to Kent County

Wikipedia

Recreational marijuana dispensaries in Kent County are another step closer to reality, as this week, the city of Lowell approved two ordinances that outline the rules and regulations for operating recreational marijuana dispensaries, processing facilities, growing operations. The city is the first in the county to do so.

The move means, that very soon, dispensaries will open their doors, and anyone over 21 with a valid ID can walk in, and legally buy pot for recreational purposes only.

Meanwhile, the Lowell City Commission unanimously approved the two ordinances on Monday; the ordinances would prohibit dispensaries from opening within 1,000 feet of a school, preschool and residential neighborhood. The other stipulation is that businesses must be at least 500 feet of Lowell’s historic downtown corridor. The ordinances do not however, cap the number of dispensaries or permits that Lowell is able to approve.

Lowell follows in the footsteps of Muskegon, after city officials earlier this month approved marijuana ordinances of their own, paving the way for recreational marijuana dispensaries to begin operating in the near future.
