Michigan Secretary of State stops by GVSU to encourage students to register to vote

Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson visited Grand Valley State University’s Allendale Campus Tuesday afternoon to help encourage students to vote.  Benson has been touring campus all over the state of Michigan recently with her mobile unit to spread the importance of voting to college students.

As part of National Registration Day, Benson’s visit to Grand Valley State University Tuesday gave students, faculty and staff members the opportunity to register to vote. Benson’s says, with Michigan projected to be a key battle ground state in the 2020 Presidential Race, it’s more important than ever for residents to take part in the electoral process.

The recently elected Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson also announced Tuesday that automatic voter registration has officially launched in Michigan, and says, online voter registration will be available following the November 2019 election.

Benson praised Grand Valley State University students for their eagerness to register, and says, students across the state of Michigan are showing the same enthusiasm.
