Customers of DTE Energy are in for large refund, as over $300 million will be returned to consumers who pay for their service. According to a news release, the refund has been ordered by the Michigan Public Service Commission, who, on Tuesday, approved an eye-opening total of $333 million that will be returned to customers, that number however will not be at once, but rather at roughly $13 million annually.
The refund will come through approved monthly decreases for DTE Gas Co. customers to “reflect the impact lower federal corporate tax rates have had on the company’s long-term investments.”
The commission says, a that a residential customer who uses 10,000 cubic feet of natural gas a month will receive a 58-cent monthly credit on their bill beginning in September.
It’s the third round of bill adjustments for DTE, after the commission approved Credit A refunds of $2.12 a month for DTE Gas customers in May 2018 and Credit B refunds of $2.21 a month in October 2018.
