The Grand Rapids metropolitan area is being recognized as one of the best midsized cities for economic growth.
International news organization, Reuters, has dubbed Grand Rapids a ‘superstar’ city. It comes to this conclusion after analyzing metropolitan statistical areas from across the country. In particular, it drilled down to seven-year job-growth where it discovered 40-percent of new jobs were created in 20 cities. Grand Rapids was one of two Midwestern cities receiving ‘superstar’ status along with national standouts Atlanta, Austin, San Francisco and Seattle.
Business Facilities magazine is also recognizing Grand Rapids. In its 2019 Metro Ranking Report, it’s ranked the No. 1 U.S. midsized city for economic growth potential. It cites the areas diverse economic strengths including automotive, food processing, office furniture, medical and technology to name a few.
Birgit Klohs, President and CEO, of regional economic development organization, The Right Place, says, “These rankings recognize our region as a national leader, and further solidify our area as a destination for business success. There is no better time than now to be doing business and living in West Michigan.”
