Phase two of the Grand Rapids Innovation Park is moving forward with approvals from the city’s Brownfield Redevelopment Authority.
The Medical Mile will continue its expansion at the corner of Michigan Street and Monroe Avenue. That’s where Michigan State University’s Grand Rapids Research Center opened in 2017.
Now, with the City of Grand Rapids’ Brownfield Redevelopment Authority approving a reimbursement agreement for eligible activities totaling roughly $29 million, Health Innovation Partners and MSU can move forward on phase two of the Grand Rapids Innovation Park.
Construction of a 200,000-square-foot medical innovation building on roughly 4.2 acres will begin in October. The $83 million public-private investment will include office space for MSU and private sector partners. When completed, it’s estimated the new medical innovation building will create 250 to 300 jobs
Included in the project is a 600-vehicle parking ramp with public accessibility.
