Just $3 million shy of goal, GRCC launches public fundraising campaign
The fundraising campaign is called “A Broader Vision,” and it’s an effort by Grand Rapids Community College leaders to raise “the final $3 million of a $15 million plan to increase scholarships” and renovate two buildings on campus, according to a release.
GRCC President Bill Pink says, the community is filled with potential students who desperately need financial assistance in order to enroll.
“These scholarship dollars that this campaign will provide will give them another pathway, and a means to be able to get to GRCC, and not only get here, but finish at our institution,” Pink said in a video release.
Deb Bailey is a campaign co-chair. She told a crowd at the campaign kickoff Tuesday morning that resources will also provide much needed upgrades to both the GRCC's nearly 100-year-old main building, and a 20,000 foot expansion of the Wisner-Bottrall Applied Technology center.
“So our main instructional building that was built in the 1920’s—if you take a tour, you will see it remains in the 1920’s," Bailey said. "We must have exceptional educational institutions.”
That building was renamed the Raleigh J. Finkelstein Hall this year in honor of his support of the fundraising campaign, which will continue through the end of the year.
