United States Congressman Bill Huizenga held off Democrat Rob Davidson Tuesday, earning him a fifth term in Michigan’s 2nd District. According to unofficial results, Huizenga beat Davidson by 10 points. Celebrating the victory in downtown Holland, Congressman Huizenga had a message to the voters who braved the weather and got out and voted for him on Tuesday.

"Thank you," Huizenga said. "Just whether it is folks that used absentee ballots, or whether they came out and braved elements today,” he said. “You know it (running for office) is one of the most humbling things anyone can possibly do because you can’t do it yourself, this is not an endeavor you can do alone, and I am just gratified and humbled to be able to go serve again.”

Huizenga was first elected in 2011 to represent the 2nd District. He says protecting the Great Lakes is one of his top priorities in the next term.
