The results of a statewide poll asking Democratic and Republican primary voters which of the gubernatorial candidates they’d vote for have been released. WGVU breaks down the latest survey heading into Michigan’s August 7th primary.
Lansing-based EPIC-MRA recently surveyed more than 1,400 likely Michigan voters asking who they have “already voted for by absentee ballot, or intend to vote for on Election Day?”
Of the three candidates running in the democratic primary for governor, Gretchen Whitmer has a wide advantage over her party opponents with 42% giving her the nod. Shri Thanedar and Abdul El-Sayed are in the teens with 19% of likely voters saying they’d support Thanedar and 15% in favor of El-Sayed – 24% are undecided.
On the Republican side of the ledger there are four candidates. The Epic-MRA poll indicates Attorney General Bill Schuette has also built up a large lead at 42% among GOP voters. Lieutenant Governor Brian Calley is at 24%, Senator Patrick Colbeck 11% and Dr. Jim Hines is in single digits with 8% of likely voters indicating he gets their vote. The margin of error in this poll is plus/minus 3.1%.
