Michigan’s 73rd House district primary includes four Republicans running for a spot on the November ballot. Republican Robert Regan has experience as a small business owner, author and family man. His campaign theme is “Honest, Effective Government… for a Change.”
“(AUDIO RECORDING) ‘Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall!’ No, it’s not Ronald Reagan. This is Robert Regan. If you liked Reagan, you’ll like Regan. The biggest thing that probably separates me from everybody is that I’m the no new tax candidate and I’m also the one that’s driving this reforming the auto no-fault insurance, which is now the most expensive in the country, and it’s prohibitive to senior citizens and millennials. Let’s face it, it’s prohibitive to everybody. It’s just too expensive and it needs to change. ”
One of Regan’s three Republican challengers is Lynn Afendoulis. She too has experience as a small business owner. Afendoulis is a former journalist and has served on a number of community committees, commissions and foundation boards.
“I bring to the table 35 years of business and community leadership experience, a solid work ethic and strong West Michigan values. In Lansing I want to work to fix our education system, to reform auto insurance, to build our infrastructure, make sure we keep our taxes low and government accountable and support policy that helps Michigan workers and families. I am not afraid to ask tough questions or to back tough solutions and I think I have what it takes to be an effective, honorable legislator who will work hard for the people of my district.”
The Michigan primary is Tuesday, August 7th.
