Sculptures incorporating kayaks to be unveiled in Muskegon

A group of sculptures incorporating actual kayaks will be unveiled in downtown Muskegon.

The July 5 event is being hosted by the Lakeshore Art Festival in conjunction with the Muskegon Museum of Art.

The nine sculptures will be installed at various locations. They will be on display through Labor Day weekend.

Lakeshore Art Festival Director Carla Flanders says "residents and summer visitors will be impressed by the creativity" of the nine artists.

The West Michigan Tourist Association says a "kayak crawl" will be held to tour the sculptures.

Kayak maker Sun Dolphin donated kayaks for the sculptures and is the signature sponsor of the 2018 project.
