Michigan Governor Rick Snyder has ordered that flags be lowered to half staff on Friday, Feb.2, in honor of Police Officer Glenn Doss Jr. who was killed in the line of duty.

Doss was shot in the head while responding to a domestic dispute on Jan. 24. He died four days later. Decharlos O. Brooks has been charged with first-degree murder and murder of a peace officer, according to the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office.

“Glenn was a young, devoted police officer and will be deeply missed. Sue and I send our most sincere condolences to his family, friends, and colleagues during this time,” Snyder said in a press release.

Doss served two years with the Detroit Police Department.

A service in his honor will be held Friday, Feb. 2, at 11 a.m. at Greater Grace Church, 23500 W. Seven Mile Road in Detroit.
