Facebook and Grand Circus offer students full scholorships to train in coding

Facebook has announced a new partnership with Michigan based technology training center Grand Circus in the hopes of training 3000 students over the next two years in computer coding. The ten week boot camp style training comes with a full scholarship, and upon completion students will be connected with potential employers.

“Well I think the thing about this program which is awesome, is that there is a new set of skills that you need to kind of work in the global economy," Grand Circus Damien Rocchi said. "And I think that there is a lot more jobs than there are people that have these skills, so the initiative that teaches people these skills is really important.”

According to Forbes, coding is the #1 job skill in demand right now, and there are more jobs available then there are qualified people to fill them.

“There is a convergence between manufacturing, coding, programming and digital information collection," said Michigan Lieutenant Governor Brian Calley. "I mean, every industry has become more and more reliant on data. This effort will help every single industry in our state.”
