The security checkpoint at The Gerald R. Ford International Airport got a serious facelift Wednesday, as airport officials and community leaders gathered to celebrate the checkpoint's grand opening. The upgrade in the airport's terminal is part of a larger $45 million overhaul the airport is currently undergoing called the Gateway Transformation Project.

The new security checkpoint includes new flooring, restrooms and retail and restaurants.

Phase two of the Gateway Transformation Project, which he says will be a complete reimagining and redesign of the airports ticketing and baggage claim area.
