Now 61, he walked out of a Pennsylvania prison last fall after more than four decades. John Hall is 67. He was freed from a Michigan prison in February after nearly 50 years. He had $1.37 in his pocket. Juvenile offenders can take responsibility for their crimes. Judges and parole boards can assess how they've changed. But it takes something more to make it in a world that has tossed aside most of what you once knew.
