Michigan priest to stand trial in church embezzlement case
A priest from southwestern Michigan charged with embezzling more than $100,000 in church funds has been ordered to stand trial. Richard Fritz' case has been bound over to St. Joseph County Circuit Court. A preliminary examination had been scheduled for Tuesday.
Fritz was arraigned in April. He served as a priest in the Diocese of Kalamazoo for 35 years before resigning last year following an investigation into inappropriate use of church funds between 2010 and 2016.
