Democrats in Lansing have renewed their mission for a Voter Bill of Rights. Representatives introduced a resolution today to amend the Michigan constitution.
Similar efforts to revamp Michigan’s voting process by Democrats have failed in the past.
If passed this time, the Voter Bill of Rights would include, among other things, the right to no-reason absentee voting, early in-person voting, and automatic voter registration for any eligible person issued a state driver’s license or ID card.
Democratic Representative Jon Hoadley is taking up the cause this year.
“Engaging in the democratic process shouldn’t make you late for work or have to miss your kid’s soccer practice.”
Hoadley says Michigan lags behind most other states when it comes to modernizing voting practices.
