Detroit Tigers, United Way to visit Grand Rapids Police Department

The Grand Rapids Police Department announced that two organizations plan to visit the police department on Thursday in appreciation of their service to the community.

On Thursday night players and coaches from the Detroit Tigers will stop by to meet and greet officers and staff. The Tigers organization will be in Grand Rapids that day to attend the West Michigan Whitecaps Banquet and decided to drop by the police department for a visit.

In celebration of Heart of West Michigan's United Way's 100 year anniversary, county and city officials will declare January 19th as "Live United Day." As a living example, volunteers and staff will be decontaminating "Ways To Live United throughout the day in the spirit of living and working together for the common good by bringing bagels and juice for the GRPD, donating to local pantries and making cards for homebound seniors.

They are encouraging all people of our community to use this day to find "Ways to Live United" in service to one another.
