Flint officials say crews have replaced lead-tainted pipes at nearly 500 homes.

MLive reports that a statement from Mayor Karen Weaver said earlier this month that she is hoping the Fast Start Program, which launched in March, replaces at least 1,000 homes' water lines before winter hits.

Flint spokeswoman Kristin Moore said in a news release Monday that crews have replaced service lines at 460 homes so far.

Weaver said at least 15,000 homes in Flint have been identified as priority homes under the Fast Start program.

About 5,000 of those homes have been slotted to have infrastructure replaced during the Fast Start program's third phase, which began in October. Work on the rest of the third phase homes is planned for when the weather breaks next spring.
