A former USA Gymnastics doctor and Michigan State University professor has been charged with criminal sexual assault. He was arraigned Tuesday.

Dr. Larry Nassar was the team physician for the MSU gymnastics program, and the doctor for the USA Gymnastics team for four Olympics. He faces three charges of sexually assaulting a girl who was under thirteen years old.

The alleged victim was not a patient or gymnast of Nassar’s.

Attorney General Bill Schuette’s office is handling the case. “Dr. Nasser stole this young lady’s childhood, and as a father it breaks my heart to see that. And these are predatory acts, criminal acts that are just outrageous.”

The MSU Police Department says it has received about 50 complaints against Nassar for sexual assault.
