Grand Valley State University continues advancing projects making it the region's number one provider of health care. Friday, the GVSU board of trustees approved the expansion of its downtown Grand Rapids health campus supporting its College of Health Professions and the Kirkhof College of Nursing.
Back in February the City of Grand Rapids signed memos of understanding with Grand Valley State University approving construction planning for a health campus expansion at the corner of Lafayette Ave NE and Hastings Street NE in the Belknap Neighborhood.
Friday, GVSU’s board of trustees approved a $46.5 million project expanding its Cook-DeVos Center for Health Sciences campus north of I-196.
On 18 acres GVSU will construct a five-story, 84,000-square-foot building that will include four classrooms, 15 teaching laboratories and office space.
A two-level parking deck will provide 90 spaces.
In a news release, the university says “The project will be funded by donor support, university-issued bonds and campus development funds,” adding, “Construction is expected to begin in December and be completed in May 2018.”
