A Walkerville man has been awarded for pulling an unconscious woman from her burning car several months ago.

The Muskegon Chronicle reports that Rueben Quinton received a lifesaving award Monday at the Muskegon Township board meeting.

He also spoke with Lakewood Club resident Laurel Sanchez, the woman he pulled from the wreckage, for the first time since the accident.

Quinton says he was driving behind Sanchez on southbound U.S. 31 near Holton Road the morning of May 19 when debris from a truck slammed into Sanchez's car, which spun out.

Her vehicle tumbled down an embankment and into a tree.

Quinton got Sanchez out as flames gathered above the windshield and smoke filled the passenger cabin.

Quinton says he'll cherish the lifesaving award plaque for a long time.
