Now that Grand Valley State University students have settled in for the 2016-2017 school year, the university has released record-breaking enrollment figures.
Grand Valley State University’s total enrollment continues to climb. With 25,460 students that’s 135 more students taking classes this year than last.
When it comes to first-time students, GVSU is a popular place with 4,380 hitting the books.
The number of minority students is also reaching new heights up nearly 17-percent over last year’s enrollment. The university says that’s a record number, too at 4,315.
And yes, there are a record number of students living on campus with more than 6,240 living the dorm life. GVSU has invested in campus living spaces opening its brand new $37 million Holton-Hooker Learning and Living Center. The 135,000-square-foot building consists of 240 bedrooms housing 500 students.
In a statement, Grand Valley says it “continues to be a talent engine for the region with 85 percent of graduates staying in Michigan to start their careers. Of all recent graduates, 94 percent are employed or attending graduate school.”
