Three tribal colleges in Michigan are receiving $143,000 each in federal grants to upgrade facilities and buy equipment.
U.S. Sen. Debbie Stabenow says the funding came from the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Rural Development Program.
Keweenaw Bay Ojibwa Community College will use its grant for campus improvements, while Saginaw Chippewa Tribal College is improving classroom technology and acquiring library equipment, fixtures and furniture.
Bay Mills Community College will purchase early learning and business equipment. President Michael Parish says the college's sustainable farm and orchard will undergo improvements to its barn, classroom building and outbuildings.
