The W.K. Kellogg Foundation is giving $7.1 million to nonprofits and organizations supporting Flint's efforts to recover from its crisis with lead-tainted water.
The funding announced Tuesday seeks to revitalize the city and help children and families.
Funding recipients include Flint Rising, the Early Childhood Development Center at the University of Michigan-Flint, Mott Community College, the Genesee County Health Department and the Community Foundation of Greater Flint.
The foundation's President and CEO June Montgomery Tabron says in a statement it's an "opportunity to join our philanthropic partners ... in helping ensure responsive health care, quality early education and an economically thriving city."
The Kellogg Foundation in May was among the local, state and national foundations that pledged a total of tens of millions of dollars to Flint.
