Several suspects were arrested Thursday night for a drive-by shooting in Grand Rapids on Thursday afternoon that injured a teenager and a 4-year-old child.

The Grand Rapids Police Department says the 17-year-old boy and younger child were hit by shots fired from an SUV just before 3 p.m.

The teenager was shot in the arm.

The child was on a sidewalk with family.

Police say both were taken to a hospital and their injuries were not considered life-threatening.

The GRPD says officers responded to the northwest side of the city near Chatham Street NW and Pine Avenue NW after 6 p.m. for a report of a stolen vehicle believed to be related to the afternoon shooting.

One suspect was immediately taken into custody.

Police say two other suspects fled into a nearby home, where they stayed for several hours before surrendering to officers.

The three were in custody Friday morning pending charges.
