A hearing is scheduled in a lawsuit filed by the Detroit Public Schools after teacher sick-outs earlier this year closed dozens of schools.
The case will be held Monday before the Michigan Court of Claims.
Dozens of teachers protesting their pay, overcrowded classes and poor conditions in some schools called out sick Jan. 20, forcing the district to close more than 85 of its 97 schools.
The sick-out was organized by the Detroit Teachers' Strike to Win Committee.
The Detroit Federal of Teachers' union urged sick-outs this month that closed 94 schools each on consecutive days after reports that the district might not have money to pay some educators this summer.
State lawmakers are working on a plan to pay off the district's debt.
