Seven Grand Rapids-area men face felony charges for soliciting sex with a minor after a citizen posed online as a 15-year-old girl.

The suspects were charged by the Kent County Prosecutors Office following an investigation by the Grand Rapids Police Department.

Police say each of the seven men face counts of Accosting a Minor for Immoral Purposes.

The 23-year-old man reportedly contacted police after posing as a 15-year-old female on Craigslist and documenting evidence of men who contacted his account. The evidence included video recordings of in-person meetups and confrontations with the men that the citizen then posted online.

A GRPD spokesperson says the department followed up with interviews of the men in March and April. They range from 19 to 58 years old.

Authorities say they do not encourage the 23-year-old man’s actions, and ask any information regarding criminal activity be given directly to law enforcement.
