Grand Haven trustees approve $50M Spectrum, Holland Hospital venture

A $50 million dollar medical facility moves forward in Grand Haven Township.

The 12-acre Health Pointe development, near the corner off Robbins Road and 172nd Avenue, is a dual venture between Spectrum Health and Holland Hospital.

Grand Haven Township trustees gave final approval to the project this week, following months of debate by local officials, hospital representatives and residents.

The facility will offer urgent care, radiology and laboratory services as well as space for primary and specialty physicians.

Residents expressed concerns about the project in letters, emails and in-person meeting appearances.

Issues included additional traffic congestion, building specs and appearance, as well as potential impacts on other local healthcare providers.

Some said they were in favor of the project – one in particular noting a lack of access to certain healthcare services in the area.

Officials say construction will begin later this spring or early summer, with an expected opening date of fall 2017.
