Panel to consider taxpayer money for Snyder Flint legal fees on Tuesday
Governor Rick Snyder’s state-funded legal contracts related to his involvement in the Flint water crisis go before a state board tomorrow.
The governor is asking the board to increase the value of the contracts to one-point-two million dollars total. Democrats say taxpayers shouldn’t be on the hook for Snyder’s defense costs. They’re calling on Snyder to withdraw the request and pay for the legal fees himself.
Tim Greimel is the top Democrat in the state House.
“If he refuses to do so, Democrats will move to cut the governor’s executive office budget by an equal amount.”
Snyder’s office says it’s appropriate to use public funds because he was acting in his official role.
