FLINT, Mich. (AP) - Four Flint dermatologists are working with state and federal authorities to investigate rashes reported in the city amid its water crisis.
Dr. Walter Barkey tells the Detroit Free Press that at least 70 people with rashes have been through the initial screenings and will be seen by one of the four doctors who volunteered to help.
Eighty-seven-year-old Philip Tylus says a rash began on his ankles a few months ago and quickly spread all over his body. He received a cream from a dermatologist and the rash is healing, but he says that in a few places on his body he still has burning sensations.
Flint is facing an emergency over the city's lead-contaminated water supply. Rashes are among a number of other health concerns raised by residents.
